Gabby is my second doll. She is the same type of doll as Lola, a Volks Dollfie, but with the tan skin and smaller chest. and very pale blond hair. The store said it was white... But she's done quite well with the hair she has.
I bought Gabby for 2 reasons. 1. I really liked Lola and didn't want her to be lonely. 2. I realized Volks isn't making any more of them, so I panicked and bought one after realizing many were going out of stock. She's been a joy from the start! She never got the horrible face-ups that Lola had to deal with in her early days, but she did undergo hair rooting so she could have pigtails without big bald spots on the back of her head. Hair rooting is all fine and dandy for repair or details, but man, no fun doing a whole head! It was worth it. She has adorable pigtails. She's the only doll I've given a haircut. Her hair used to be as long as Lola's.
I have fun making clothes for Gabby, because her color palette is outside my comfort zone. Yellows and greens in various textures. She's a fun doll, fun to pose, and seems to enjoy it. I bet if she could, she'd run around. I'm glad she can't...
She and Lola look as different as that size Dollfie can get, which makes it more fun and interesting to dress them up. They do NOT share clothes at all. Lola wouldn't be caught dead in what Gabby wears half the time, and won't let Gabby put her clothes on. After making a very fancy dress for Lola, I made an outfit for Gabby with lace on it too. It looked very different, like the same category, but more for their individual style. It's amazing what you can make look good with lace.
Her birthday (purchase date) is August 20th, 2010.
